I have a confession to make – this isn’t really a running journal just for moms. I’m a mom, so it’s run by a mom, but it’s really for all the women who feel like they can’t get into running because of busy schedules, poor physical fitness, or any other obstacle that seems to exist. Members include young moms, old moms, vegans, vegetarians, one-leggeds, four-leggeds, a touch of menopause and more than a few casual couch potatoes. Obviously, we need a little more variety to get a truly well-rounded running community.
One thing I’ve learned over the past couple of years is that anyone can get into running or somehow be involved in running if they want to be – and if you don’t want to run, we can always use cheerleaders! Primarily, we’re just a community of women who are loosely committed to the same goal. If you feel like you have to be a mom to be here, furred and finned babies count, as do teddy bears, or if nothing else I’m sure one of us has a baby you can borrow.
If you’re looking for running advice, running pro tips, marathon training tips, or other such useful information on running – you might want to try the next site over. I really hope that we can get a conversation going here about how to fit running around our normal, everyday lives, share some ideas, have some fun, and maybe help keep each other motivated in whatever degree of personal running goals we might have.
The biggest thing I’d like to stress is that this is an interactive running journal where I hope everyone will feel free to comment and participate. Let us know what’s going on in your world, and definitely let us know if you’re planning on participating in a community walking or running event so that we can tell everyone about it. There are no off-topic comments unless you’re related to a certain brand of canned processed meat, all other personalities are heartily welcomed!
Finally, I’d like to add a special thank you to our hosts at http://www.14thstory.com who helped me get the ball rolling on this :).
